Dang!

So, I’m beginning to think my book The Short Bus Journal is dead in the water. I just got a reply from an agent (who got a query, a synopsis AND 10 pages of the book) that simply said:

“I did not like the diary format.”

Ouch. I wish I could say that was an isolated reply, but the truth is, I’ve gotten more than a few people who said they didn’t like that it was written that way. Which leads me to wonder: Did they like the premise and the story itself and just thought the format sucked?

Hmmm…

I did something I normally didn’t do. I replied to the agent and asked her if she thought there was any merit in trying to rework the book in a new way that would be more ‘accessible’ to other readers. I was very polite, thanked her for her time and now I’m gonna sit and wait.

Oh…I’ve also decided to dedicate all of October (from herein referred to as SHOCKTOBER) to writing a first draft of my new book Anna 2.0. Not sure if I’ll be able to get 50,000 – 60,000 words written in 31 days, but we’ll see. I’m in the planning stages now, crafting kick-a$$ scenes and developing the characters as best I can.

Cliff Notes Version of Previous Post: I realize my last post was a LONG one, so here’s the short of it:

– Lost dog
– Looked for him
– Got call from weird guy building a cat house that he found him
– Retrieved dog
– The end
