Hiya Sniz,

You know, I feel goofy responding to stuff in my own comments section. Feel free to e-mail me at my gmail address if you want.

Anywhooo...glad to hear my advice has helped a bit. I know there's a million things that can get in the way of the stuff you REALLY want to do (for me, it's writing) but you've got to think of some of those reasons as excuses. It's the same as trying to go to a health club to get some exercise. Do you WANT to go to the club? No. It's much more fun to play Halo 3 and eat 18 cookies. Once you've got your mind set that you NEED to do it, you'll find the time, the motivation and the rewards are totally worth it. There is absolutely NOTHING like holding a finished manuscript above your head like some sort of barbarian and shouting triumphantly: "I finished this damn thing!!!"

Plus it has weight to it, which is cool, because then you can think: The stuff in my head? It's actually WEIGHS something.

Keep at it, Sniz. You can do it!

Hiya Tappity,
I tried twice to add a comment on here yesterday. You should have seen the first one. A work of art, but after all the time I spent on it, my computer ate it for lunch. So I tried again. Spent way too much time (time I should have been writing) drafting another comment...ah, it was a thing of beauty. I guess my computer was hungry, because the same thing happened. I uttered a loud "arrgggg!!!" and gave up. Here I am trying again. If my computer eats this one, forget it!
I was only trying to tell you that the something you said to me about writing is probably the most motivational advice about writing I've ever gotten (and I've heard a lot!). You said to keep writing so you can finish the story before you get sick of it. That's what I'm doing, and it's going great. Thanks, Tappity. Have a great Christmas. BTW, how are edits of Goodhalo going?

Hiya Sniz,

I wasn't sure which blog of yours to respond on, so I'll just yap here.

I'm glad to hear my advice has helped a bit. I know it's tough to keep at it, but I think once you get into a routine, it's like working out at the gym, you get to a point where you beat yourself up for NOT doing it. For me, the 'golden hours' are when my family is asleep. I get about 3 hours or so before I'm ready for bed and that's when I get all my work done. That way, it doesn't interfere with my time with them and I feel like I've gotten my 'duties' done for the day.

Keep at it, sister!

Yay, Thomas, that is really cool for you. If I were you, I'd just have Amazon on all day so I could just stare at my name dreamily any time I wanted, which would be a lot! I took you're advice to just keep going, no matter how sucky the first draft is and it's working. I keep remembering what you said about getting it done before you're sick of it. In the past, I get so sick of my novels about halfway through, that I stop. It happens everytime. Of course, that might have a tiny bit to do with the fact that since I have the primary care of the kids during the day, it's hard to get any kind of rhythm going.

Hey, thanks guys. I want it to be clear that I don't want anyone to feel OBLIGATED to buy it or anything. I showed some people at work and they're like: "I wanna order it."

Made me feel like I was forcing 'em to get it. Not so. Just geekily excited about the whole thing.

Congrats, sir. I got the email from Mrs. Troupe this morning that your book had been listed. That's a great way to start out the New Year. So cool. Jen and I will be placing our advance order for a couple of copies this weekend (one for us, and one for the nephew) and can't wait to see it.
