Wee Hours
I’ve been a terrible blogger lately. I’ve had all kinds of interesting new folks stopping by to say nice things or comment on the few paltry things I’ve managed to post here and I sort of feel like I’m neglecting the few folks that actually stop by.
Remember when I used to do Thursday 13? Yeah. Me too. I’ll probably do that again, soon. Well, maybe not too soon, but I’ll do it again. Believe that.
I’ve been in a weird place lately. I’ve set myself on the crazy task of trying to write an entire book (and we’re talking start to finish) in the month of October. Yeah. Seriously. The shortest time I ever took to write a book was my 2nd Travis and the Magic Sandbox book and that was like 4 months. I think Goodhalo is a close 2nd.
If all goes well, Anna 2.0 will be the quickest. It will also be the hardest. Dig this:
I’m trying to write a book about a 16 year old girl who is a gymnast and her trials and tribulations in high school. There’s more to the story that I’m keeping under wraps, but that’s the big stumbling block.
What the heck do I know about 16 year old girls?
Heck, I didn’t know much about ’em when I was in high school. What was I thinking? I’m almost 35 years old…(well, in 13 days) The funny thing? I think (emphasis on THINK) I’m pulling it off. I’m not making my main character all girly and cliched, I’m really trying to make her an interesting girl who gets caught up in some extraordinary circumstances.
It might be a kick-ass book. It might suck.
I guess we’ll see on Halloween!
Oh, oh…also. Check out my word counter thingy. I hit the ‘over 10,000’ mark tonight. That’s after only 5 days!
Holler.
Congrats at passing the 10,000 plus mark Thomas – its an inspiration and a kick to my procrastinating butt (she’s says obviously still trawling the net). 🙂
Ten Thousand Words in 5 days?
Wow, I think you’re my new hero.
Thanks guys! Like I’ve said, I’m not sure it’s real QUALITY writing, but considering how long it used to take me in the old days, I’m pretty pleased to at least have a good head start and hopefully a nice 1st draft to beat up on down the road.
Hey, I managed 615 words today. All in one day! Imagine that!
I can tell . . . you’re impressed.
HA!
