GOODHALO – Draft 1: Complete
Strike up the band, y’all. My 4th full-length book, Goodhalo, is finally done. It began back in early April of this year, immediately following the completion of The Short Bus Journal. My goal was always to get it written over the summer.
Considering summer ‘officially’ ends in less than 6 days, I’m waaaay happy that I reached my goal.
Stats:
GOODHALO (Book 1)
Age Group: YA (13-17)
Genre: Fantasy/Horror
Words: 93,734
Pages: 377
Photo note: Wondering about the ashtray in the shot? Well, I’ve gotta tell you I’m not a smoker, nor will I ever be. It was a gift from a friend that I use as a coaster. It’s got a picture of Jesus with the words: JESUS HATES IT WHEN YOU SMOKE written on there. Somehow it seemed appropriate.
CONGRATS on finishing this puppy!
Congratulations! Let me know when it’s in print because my 13 year old is in desperate need of some new reading material. She’ just about read all of the fantasy/horror books in the young adults section of the library.
Congratulations! I can only imagine the sense of pride and accomplishment you are feeling! I’ve got many stories in my head, but I can’t type or write fast enough to get them all down!
Yay!
That sounds like a pretty cool ashtray.
Wahoo! Congrats on finishing this one! Good luck with the next step. It sounds like a cool book! I love horror and ghosty stuff (if you couldn’t tell!)
Does Goodhalo have anything to do with the XBox game Halo that my son is literally going insane talking about?
Oh, and by the way, congratulations for finishing!!! almost 94K is a lot of words and I know how hard it is to finish a MS. Who’s publishing it and who’s your agent? Was your deadline self-imposed?
Rhonda – Thanks! It seemed to take a lot longer than it actually did. Does that make sense?
Dana – Gracias! It might be a while. I’m hoping to start submitting it early next year if not sooner!
Misty – Yeah, it’s pretty sweet. I got accused of talking about myself too much tonight, but you know what? It’s not often I get one of these finished. As for the ideas, it’s like a curse. I gotta write ’em down.
Cheryl – It IS a cool ashtray. My friend knows me too well. My brother bought me a Jesus puppet, too. Weird.
Ghost Girl – Yeah, the next step is my least favorite. I’d rather write 12 more books than edit one. Oh well!
Sniz – Nope. Nothing to do with it, though I’m in the same boat as your son. I can’t WAIT for the Halo 3 video game. As for agents, I’m agentless so far. So, I’m hoping this bad-boy will snag one for me once and for all!
The deadline was totally self-imposed. I’m a major procrastinator, so that’s sort of a big deal for me to have it done within the time frame I alotted myself.
Congratulations Thomas!
Most Excellent. And it is still summer, with a week to spare.

YAY for finishing!!!!!!!!!!!!!
